White Sandstone Paving & Raised Beds - Contemporary Garden

We began the Contemporary garden project by removing all the old fencing and overgrown plants.

New 4 x 4 posts were concreted in ready for the new fence panels and a small base was prepared ready for the new summerhouse which was to be placed at the bottom of the garden.

Raised Beds boundaries were marked out and footings prepared as the beds were built from building blocks.

Once the mortar was dry enough we rendered the blocks to a smooth finish.

Variegated Phormiumsright, for the right hand main bed, were brought in ready for planting along with Black Bamboos and Black Phormiums for the rear bed.

The lower bed has a mix of herbs including Sage, Parsley and Rosemary.

The Summerhouse was erected and all timber protected with polythene sheeting from the paint spray.

The smooth rendered walls were sprayed white to match the white sawn sandstone paving.

Softwood timber was used to build the superstructure which was to support the seating.

The curved Patio was laid in white sawn Sandstone at the top of the garden and a second patio around the summerhouse.

Architectural planting was arranged throughout the raised beds with Pervoskia, Lavender, Nepata, Verbena and Dahlia creating a Blue / Purple flowering effect in the left hand bed.

The hand drawn plans are a good preview of this smooth curveed Modern low maintenance design.

This Modern Garden Design is now complete with White Paving and plenty of hardwood seating areas. This beautiful and fully functional modern garden is finished with a small Water Feature adjoining the right hand bed to create that tranquil feeling. The raised beds are a superb example of Modern Container Gardening.
