Curved Flower Bed Design Landscaping with Sandstone Circular Patios

This Flower Bed Design shows how traditional perimeter beds can be created using modern garden design and Landscaping methods using Circular Patios and curved walls.

The clients were simply fed up with their uninteresting garden that did not make the most of the Landscaping space that they had. They wanted to be able to entertain and sit out in a pretty space. The large existing patio was north facing and hardly used. Because of the aspect of the garden I suggested to incorporate 2 Circular Patios using sandstone paving; a small one to catch the morning sun for breakfast and a larger one to make the most of the evening sun. The larger one was raised to make the most of the westerly views. Both Sandstone Patios were set in a hemisphere of an edged lawn area.

Circular Patios

First the site was marked out with the larger patio very carefully positioned as the retaining wall needed to be built first. The smaller of the 2 Circular Patios was installed whilst the retaining wall was being constructed; this would create a Curved Flower Bed. With the dwarf wall finished the larger patio could be laid.

The smaller of the two Sandstone Patios was planted with a selection of plants designed to spill over and soften the edge in time.

The larger patio was planted with colour and scent in mind. Note the spacing in the Curved Flower Bed to allow for growth. This project shows how you can create a beautiful Flower Bed Design at the same time as creating an ideal place to entertain.
