Rustic Poles Raised Beds Courtyard Garden - Flower Bed DesignCategory: Flower Bed Design Garden Design Project: FBDPAP001
The existing garden consisted of a small patch of grass, a wide path running the length of the garden, a small overgrown flower border and an enormous very imposing shed. The fencing was inadequate and in a poor state of repair.
Additionally, the flower bed design needed to be easy to maintain, as well as bringing some much needed colour into the garden.
They were built of rustic poles which enabled the planting areas to be raised and thereby giving the garden more structure. Apart from their practical aspects, such as informal seating and retention of the raised borders, the rustic poles in themselves are very pleasing to the eye giving a soft feel to the edge of the planting areas.
The remaining areas of the garden were laid with light grey Indian Sandstone giving an impression of increased space and a nice contrast with the colour of the rustic poles and the dark red brickwork of the house.
A new, much smaller shed was sited at the bottom of the garden and new higher fencing to finish the courtyard effect.
