Victorian Garden Restoration with Brickwork Flower Beds
Category: Flower Bed Design
Garden Design Project: FBDEAT001
This Garden Restoration on a Victorian home shows how you can Renovate old Brickwork to look bright and colourful whilst maintaining that 'in keeping' feel.
The clients, two young GP's in Southsea, Hampshire, wanted Earth Architecture to completely Renovate then redesign and construct their back garden.
As Garden Designers we give a basic hand-drawn plan/working drawing to the client because Garden Design and build for them is a creative process which is best evolved while actually building the garden.
This way they are able to tweak the garden every day getting the best garden for the client and within budget.
After removing 12 tons of soil they prepared the ground with compacted scalpings over semi-permeable landscape stabilising fabric where appropriate.
The existing Victorian Brickwork was cleaned and re-used in a new curved brick raised Flower Beds.
The new Lawn area was raised with tons of heat-screened topsoil and new top quality turf was carefully laid so the garden flowed naturally without Steps up or down.
Earth Architecture specialise in pruning and Garden Restoration and this challenging project was a real pleasure for them in finding the best resolution to difficult decision-making.
We have a great advantage over many Garden Designers, as Graham Swain, with his degree in Architecture and his horticultural training, is fully-hands on in the clients' garden every day.
White Walls with square Trellis create a bright backdrop which will be functional as the plants grow.
He is also a bricklayer and does all the Brickwork himself.
The attention to detail and the constant communication with the clients' needs is paramount and the clients fully appreciate this.
