3D Landscape Design Software: Ideal Landscaping Tool for Garden DesignDo you need Landscape Design Software? It can be difficult for the garden planner to figure out exactly how he wants things to work. While you may have some ideas as to which plants to use and the shape of the garden, most garden plans change once the plants are in the ground and it becomes obvious that the original plan wasn't such a great one. Using Landscape Design Software will save you time and money and give you a nice 3D design view to let you see what your garden will look like before you actually plant. There are several different software choices available, but many are not worth the money. Let's take a look at some of the best options on the market. VectorWorks Landmark
This Landscape Design Software is very high end and offers a wide range of photo realistic textures and paint tones from all the top paint manufacturers. The 'Landmark' module is specifically for the garden Landscaping industry. Add shapes very easily; include existing garden features, irrigation systems and such. You can work in 2D or 3D, but in either case, the load times are quite fast. The latest versions have improved drastically over previous versions. There are a number of symbols included, such as people, map symbols and vehicles, etc. You can also test thousands of different textures, check the lighting and try out various atmospheric effects, as well. This is advanced software, however, so it does require a bit of a learning curve and is meant for professional garden designers and landscapers. VisionScape 3D Virtual Property Architect
This 3D design software offers super realistic models of your property, along with realistic plants and trees. It's also a fairly simple system to use, just click and plant your shrubs and flowers. You can resize them to see what the garden will look like in a decade, as well, which will help determine the best placement for everything. Professional landscapers will appreciate the video feature, which lets you create a flythrough of the property once you have designed it, perfect for showing to the client.
The actual location of your house will be the same in the program, so you can see how the light will hit the garden throughout the day. This is also a professional system, but relatively easy to get started with, though the number of options may be somewhat overwhelming at first. Best of all; you can Download FREE a 14 day trial for you to test. Seasoned users of Vectorworks Landmark are less likely to change to VisionScape but those that do will be glad they did! Home & Landscape Design
If you need more than just garden plans, this software also lets you design your home, so it's not strictly Landscaping software. It is a very easy to use program and while the graphics are not as high quality as the programs shown above, this is good beginner level software. It lets you drag room templates to the right location, resize with the mouse and then add anything else you might need, like windows and doors. The Landscaping part is very easy to use and you can specify the exact size if need be. One of the biggest advantages of this software is the enormous object library including everything for indoors and out.
You will find that there are some limitations to this software. It will create everything in 2D and has some 3D editing choices, but works best in just two dimensions. The quality is somewhat lower, as well. For the average garden planner or pro landscaper, the first two Landscape Design Software choices are the best. If you are looking for 3D design of the entire property, home included, you may want to try two different programs or the final reviewed product. Vectorworks Landmark and VisionScape are both designed to give professional garden plans in 3D design, which can be very useful. You'll know exactly what you want where and can move everything with the click of a mouse, making your final design absolutely perfect. If you don't want use Landscape Design Software yourself, whether a garden designer or not, but you still wish to have a garden plan in 2D and/or 3D, you may wish to contact us and we will provide everything you need including planting plans.
