Paving Design for Patio Furniture & Koi Pond with Circular Lawn

The existing Patio Furniture and Koi Pond were major considerations in this Landscaping project. This is a good example of Garden Designers do not let customer constraints inhibit a good garden design.

The existing garden at this property in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire lacked unity and practicality. A wide variety of materials had been used the effect was disjointed.

The clients were keen to get away from straight lines and wanted a more unified look. There was an existing triangular Koi Pond that had to be incorporated into the plan.

They also required a large area for entertaining; having a large amount of Patio Furniture, so the challenge was to allow for a number of Paved seating areas in a comparatively small Space. This was achieved by creating a circular patio and dwarf Stone Wall.

There is a central semi Circular Lawn and there are a number of level changes incorporated into the Paving to add interest. The paving used was Marshalls Fairstone Sawn Indian Sandstone in Golden Sand Multi, along with Fairstone walling blocks. The Planting is confined to a relatively small area so has to work hard all year round, as well as be low maintenance. Plants used include Hebe Pixie, Calamagrostis 'Overdam', Heuchera 'Obsidian', Viburnum davidii, Carex 'Evergold', Photinia 'Red Robin', Crocosmis 'Lucifer' Acer palmatum dissectum 'Atropurpurea'.
