Tropical Planting, Vertical Sleepers & Sandstone Water Features in New Country Garden
Category: Water Features, Ponds & Aquatics
Garden Design Project: WTFJTG001
A relaxing family water garden with Planting of rich perennials, rippling grasses
and exuberant tropical plants exhibited by beautiful garden photos.
To let in the sun light this large south facing garden was opened up by the removal of several large conifers which had been growing across the centre of the garden.
The ambitious Garden Design included a series of contrasting Water Features;
a stream that snaked through the garden, a Contemporary rill, bordered on both
sides by SandstonePaving, fed from a Sandstone sphere, here the levels are being set out.
The vision for this Country Gardenwas to link the backdrop of surrounding large mature trees to the New Garden.
Vertical, green oak Sleepers on a gentle sloping curve lift the eye and mirror the oaks, maples and sycamores beyond with the gentle
curve of the Sleepers framing The Garden.
All hands to the pump during the Planting stage with even Herbie lending a paw.
A babbling stream meanders around the garden lawns over Waterfalls and under
Western Red Cedar Bridges.
Softly rounded pebbles and boulders create Waterfalls and a natural stream bed.
Water cascades down the front of one of the oak Sleepers, creating a focal point in the garden.
The gently falling water creates a relaxing and cooling atmosphere to the garden.
A tropical mood is provided in one corner of the garden with a thatched roofed Breeze house surrounded by lush Planting.
Wood, Stone and water provide both contrasting textures and vertical and horizontal accents to the garden,
while the mature trees in the distance provide an established feel.
The calm, restrained rill combines with the rich perennial plants, rippling grasses and textured fronds of the palm trees to create a luxuriant scene.
Reaching for the sky, blue Delphiniums and fiery red Persicara provide height and drama to the plants while mirroring the oak timbers behind,
which themselves offer a foil to the Planting.
A large lawn in a family garden for entertaining and games, is bordered on the left by a group of Betula utilis Jacquemontii and a Liquidamber styriciflua, centre back.
At night Garden Lighting, up light the oak Sleepers and trees both highlighting the architectural shapes and creating a relaxing mood.
