Circular Decks & Lawns with Planting Space & Garden Lighting

This garden, with no sense of Space, was a cluttered long rectangular garden.
It was made up of numerous Concrete areas, surrounded by
bushy Plants and Shrubs that made the Space feel very small.
The areas that were created had no real purpose.
They were either too small or too enclosed for any function to be assigned to them.
The main problem was a very large workshop at the bottom of the garden that the owner didnt want.
It was corrugated iron and cut off a large corner behind it that could be used if opened up.
A sunken Pond in the middle of the plot and layer after layer of 'crazy paving',
concrete and Walls provided a tough job before we even got started.
The client was a young professional and wanted to start utilising the benefits that a garden can bring.
His vision was very simple.
He wanted a garden that he could use to entertain his friends with barbeques and parties.
The garden had to reflect what happens at parties inside a house and have a number of different 'areas' where he could eat, chat, serve drinks and enjoy himself.
At the same time, the garden had to be a topic of conversation and have different zones and features.
Working with the client, we came up with a number of ideas until it came down to the final plan. By using a number of Circular Decks and Lawns, we have created various zones throughout the garden.
Each new zone gives the owner a use, whether it is a place to eat, a place to relax, a place to potter in or a place to entertain friends.
The interlinking circles are positioned at diagonals in order to lengthen the journey around the garden and make it feel bigger.
The rendered Walls add a modern look and even provide Seating at the large lawn.
The Planting had to be simple and easy to maintain yet beautiful to look at.
The client had spent time redecorating the house in a modern style and wanted this to be reflected in the garden.
He also wanted me to create a sense of Space in the garden which it didn't have before due to the many shrubby bushes that screened it off.
