This is the garden layout plan I designed for a client using Vectorworks Landmark design software: part of the design brief for this garden was to keep the existing deck and patio area and also to incorporate water features.

My view was that to incorporate a feature in or around this main seating area would make the area too cramped and fussy.

So, after consultations with the client, I suggested positioning the feature at point 14 on the plan. The reason for this is that it is directly outside their living room window.

The clients had expressed an interest in a three column design from a previous project of mine that had been designed in collaboration with Steve James, Contemporary Metal Artist and constructed by Steve.

With this in mind, I produced three different concept designs for the Water Features.

The clients expressed a desire for each column to have a different height, so to make this feature totally unique to this garden; the lowest column was set at a height and orientated so that it can be viewed whilst seated in the living room, the middle column was orientated to face directly to the arbour and the tallest column was orientated so that it can be viewed within the orangey.

As well as being a beautiful commanding feature in its own right, each column has its own distinctive part to play.

This feature has integrated LED fountain lights which illuminate the spouts of water on exit.

At the base of the stainless steel columns there are Scottish cobbles bordered with 100x100mm Indian Sandstone cobbles.

This feature is part of an overall garden lighting scheme which is all operated by a wireless remote control Wisebox�.
