wood deck design The customer wanted a simple wood deck design but not a typical boring square construction.

After reviewing several decking plans the design I came up with was two tiered with deliberate rounded edges.

This created two separate areas with which gives a circular feel to the design.

We used wall bolts to fix the joints on the wall with joist screws to fix the joints together.

The supporting posts were dug into the ground 600mm.

The 4x2 & 6x2 joists were pressure treated timber which has a 10 year guarantee.

The designs were presented to the customer in the form of drawings produced on CAD 2000 software.

To get the rounded riser we glued several thin lengths of timber together, cramped them together and left them overnight to dry.

The top wood deck boards were laid with a 6mm gap and we run a router along the cut boards to give a smooth finish.

On the final day we gave the decking two coats of polyurethane varnish to create a high sheen look.

The whole project took 10 days to complete.
