Low Straight Wood Deck Design

Category: Wood Deck Design & Wooden Structures

Garden Design Project: DKGWCL002

wood deck design The wood deck design for this project was very straight forward as its primary purpose was to serve as access points to and from the kitchen and dinning room.

When building a deck adjacent to two external walls, lateral strength is easily acheived making the use of 4x2 timber beams acceptable.

These were supported by 4x4 posts concreted into the ground.

Timer ties were used to fix the 4x2 beams to the 4x4 posts at regular intervals.

The entire deck formed one step which we finnished off by using one long board in the opersite direction making more astheticly pleasing.

10mm gravel was placed around the bottom of the lower step to prevent weeds growing against the deck.

Mitres were cut where the steps joined at an angle so as not to expose any end grain.

Including a final coat of wood stain the project took only 4 days to complete.

The deck design software used was CAD 2000.
