Sleeper Wood Deck Design Alternative

The client did not want us to build a deck in the traditional sense so I presented her with alternative decking plans using new softwood sleepers.

Use of wood deck design software was not necessary as there was no superstructure to lay timber on.

First we laid a flat type 1 base levelled as appropriate.

After a thorough wash down we sealed the deck with a clear oil.

This has made an incredible solid deck for entertaining on.

There are several advantages to this type of deck including;

• No lower void for rodent habitation
• Thicker, stronger timbers preventing bounce
• Retaining walls can be incorporeated if required
